Marvia Malik is in media from past many months after she became the first transgender model to walk in a Pakistani fashion catwalk. She also became the first transgender anchorperson, but do you know who is Marvia Malik? What’s her story?
She is a 21 year old Transgender from Lahore, what makes her different is her education and professional life. Her story is an inspiration example for transgenders who are usually illiterate.
Marvia Malik not only did her matriculation but also completed her Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Punjab University and is now pursuing Masters’ Degree.

But things were not always so smooth, she claims that as a transgender she was not accepted by her family or the society. But as a child she made the decision to not follow the footsteps of most transgender who live on dancing, begging or prostitution.
Marvia, who was previously known as Maavia completed her matriculation after which she decided to do makeup course. The reason for choosing makeup course was a need because she required fees for her further education.

After completing her course she started her career as a make-up artist and continued her studies. During her as a make-up artist she got the chance to interact with persons from Pakistan’s media industry. This interaction helped her to get the first chance as a model.
After her successful catwalk in PFDC fashion week she received numerous modeling offers but Marvia said she wanted to do something through which transgender will be empowered. So rather than hurrying in accepting these offers to get an exposure in modeling industry she moved forward.
When Kohinoor channel decided to start their transmission after 10 years she grasped the opportunity and applied to become broadcast journalist. She passed the interview and become the first transgender journalist and anchorperson in Pakistan.
