Security Plan for General Elections of 2018 has been prepared for the metropolitan city of Karachi. To provide security 32,849 security officials will be deployed in different polling stations of the city.
An additional force of 10,000 may also be deployed, for which volunteers (Qaumi Razakar) and security guards will be used.
According to the security plan 565 polling stations building were declared highly sensitive and 1,430 building sensitive. Similarly 1,181 polling stations were declared highly sensitive and 2,670 as sensitive. 633 polling station buildings and 991 polling stations have been declared normal.
The 2013 General Elections were considered one of the most violent elections in the history of Pakistan in which blasts and firing during election campaign killed more than 130 people. On the Election Day violence 10 people were killed in Karachi alone.
