PTA Alerts Public About the Surge in Phishing Scams
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has issued a fresh public warning over the rising threat of phishing scams, urging citizens across the country to remain cautious while using digital platforms.
The advisory highlights a growing wave of cyber fraud in which scammers use fake emails, text messages, and websites to steal sensitive personal and financial information from unsuspecting users.
According to the authority, fraudsters often impersonate trusted institutions and create a sense of urgency to pressure people into responding quickly. Victims are typically asked to share one time passwords, account passwords, banking details, or verification information without first confirming whether the message is genuine.
The PTA stressed that suspicious links should never be opened and that users must always verify the sender’s identity before taking any action.
Citizens have been advised not to share their data with unknown persons or unverified platforms and to report suspicious messages or links immediately. The PTA further encouraged the public to share this warning with family and friends so that more people can stay protected from online fraud attempts.
