Punjab Issues Safety Alert Over These Medicines

Jul 14, 2026

The Directorate of Drugs Control Punjab (DDCP) has issued an urgent safety alert after laboratory tests confirmed that four unregistered herbal and traditional medicines contain Sildenafil Citrate, a prescription drug for erectile dysfunction,  hidden from consumers on product labels.

The Drug Testing Laboratory, Punjab, identified the adulterated products as Tofani Majoon, Majoon Khora, Capsule Sanda Timing, and Capsule Kasturi Plus.

None of the products carry a manufacturer’s name, batch number, or any traceability information, rendering their origin and authenticity impossible to verify.

Investigators found that sellers marketed these products primarily through online platforms, bypassing regulatory oversight.

The DDCP alert warns that undisclosed Sildenafil poses serious health risks, including severe hypotension, fainting, cardiovascular complications, priapism, sudden vision or hearing loss, and potentially fatal interactions with nitrate-based medications and other drugs.

The Directorate has directed all retailers, pharmacies, medical stores, wholesalers, and distributors to immediately halt the sale and distribution of the flagged products, quarantine existing stock, and report inventory and distribution records to the relevant Drug Inspector without delay.

Consumers who have purchased any of the four named products should discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional if they experience adverse symptoms.
