The U.S. Mission in Pakistan has announced that more Pakistani nationals who are renewing B1/B2 tourist and business visas will be eligible for interview waivers at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi.
All Pakistani nationals, regardless of age, with valid B1/B2 visas or those whose expiration dates fall within the previous 48 months are welcome to apply. Until recently, only Pakistani nationals 45 and older could take part.
Through 2023, candidates for petition-based work visas and student visas who have previously held a U.S. visa are also eligible for interview waivers.
In order to improve customer service and speed up the renewal process for qualified and eligible Pakistani citizens seeking tourist and business visas, the interview waiver eligibility has been expanded.
Some eligible visa holders may be required to attend interviews at the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate General after submitting their applications, as required by U.S. law.
To find out if they qualify for an interview waiver, candidates should visit the website of the United States Mission in Pakistan at.
Candidates who are currently scheduled for an interview but are now qualified for an interview waiver may cancel their appointment online by starting with “New Application” on the scheduling dashboard, and then following the online submission procedures for an interview waiver.
It should be noted that there are particular locations where courier services are approved for the filing of interview waivers, and the processing time is typically four weeks.
