GUJRANWALA: 70 year old women passed away on Tuesday while waiting for her turn at a local office of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) in Gujranwala, District of Punjab, Pakistan. Great number of people was gathered for renewal and updating of their national identity cards (NICs).
Rasool Bibi was standing among them for a long time in the queue when the rush suddenly occurs at the Nadra office. An eyewitness told that, “She fell unconscious and died”. This tragic decease annoyed NIC applicants who later beat Nadra staff.
Relatives of old lady claimed that Rasool Bibi was waiting in the queue since 4 am, and furthermore that the staff members were demanding bribe from applicants to get in the premises of Nadra Office.
