River Nile, Arabic version Bahr AL-Nile or nahr al-nil River, the father of African rivers and the longest river in the world. It rise from Africa’s largest Lake Victoria and drain into the Mediterranean Sea. This area receives heavy rainfall. It (Nile) has a length of about 4,132 miles (6,650 kilometers) and drains an area estimated at 1,293,000 square miles (3,349,000 square kilometers). It basin include parts of Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Sudan, and the cultivated part of Egypt.
The Nile has two major tributaries, the White Nile and Blue Nile. The White Nile is considered the headwaters and primary stream of the Nile itself. The Blue Nile, however, is the source of most of the water and fertile soil.
When the river enter into Sudan it loses it speed because of great swamp, it is the largest swamp in the world, which is 700 km long, Papyrus, aquatic grass, and water hyacinth grows in dense thickets in the shallow water, which is frequented by crocodiles and hippopotami. The river water flows substratum the grass, a huge type of aquatic birds is found there. English word “paper” is derived from this papyrus, which use in papermaking.
