Can Name Of Child Cause Illness?

toddlerPeople think that name can affect the health and mental capacity of a child which is nothing but a rumour & myth which has no basis in Islam.

Though Islam provides guidelines on naming a child but it has nothing to do with the myths which are widely believed as truth in our society.

Jamia Binoria also received a similar question where a man asked that his nephew is ill and people are suggesting to change the name because they believe the name is not suiting her and is causing health issues.

Mufti rejected such thoughts and said it has no reality but said that if you wish to change the name you can change that by other Islamic names. The mufti then suggested some Islamic names from the family and companions of Prophet (PBUH) such as Khadeeja, Aisha, Hafsa, Maria, Memoona, Fatima, Kulsoom, Maryam and many others.
