Karachi: Distinguished poet and intellectual Muslim Shamim advocate said that holding programs to remember the accomplished poets of our country is a very positive trend and he salutes those organization which are playing their part in this work. He was speaking at a speech during a literaray seminar in tribute of the great poet and journalist Khalid Aleeg held at the Government Girls College in Korangi Karachi.
The chief guest at the occasion was Additional Deputy Comissioner District Korangi, Siraj ul Din. The event also featured other distinguished personalities such as Sarwar Javed, Dr Shadab Ahsani, Professor Shahid Kamal and Raees Ahmed Khan advocate. The first ever Khalid Aleeg memorial award was also presented at the occasion to poet and philosopher Dr Ikram Ul Haq Shauq.
During his speech poet Muslim Shameem said that Khalid Aleeg was very committed and ambitious and was always well respected in all the literary circles. His whole life was an example of a consistent struggle for self improvement. Poet Muslim Shamim paid tribute to Khalid Aleeg saying that he made society and culture the subject of his work and portrayed the feelings and problems of the society through his poetry. He praised the organisation for holding this event and stressed that it should be held every year to remember the great poet and his works.
