Karachi: Jamaat e Islami Karachi Amir Muhammad Hussain Mehnati expressed concern on deteriorating law and order situation and out of control sectarian killing and said that killing of religious clerics, belonging to several sects is proof on failure of security institutions. In a statement, on Sunday, he said that frequent loss of precious lives of people including innocent seminary students and religious clerics on daily basis is a matter of great concern. He expressed deep sorrow on murder of Shia religious clerics and seminary students at Gulshan-e-Iqbal area and demanded of the government to take stern action against the culprits and bring them to full justice, instead of arresting peaceful citizens in the pretext of doubt.
He appealed masses for sectarian tolerance and harmony and urged that each and every person of the society have to play its due role in this regard. Mehnati strictly criticized the government and law enforcement agencies. He said that at one hand dozens of people lost their life daily, while at other it was seemed that government do nothing but lip service.
He also pressed the LEAs for their failure to curb rising crimes and deteriorating law and order situation. He said that around two dozen lives were lost during first day of ban on pillion ridding and imposition of section 144 of law. He suggested Inspector General Police, Director General Rangers and all other high-ups of LEAs to resign immediately as they have no reason to remain on their chairs, due to the worst ongoing situations. He added that LEAs particularly police irk the lives of people and remain busy in bribing, instead of focusing on mitigating crimes.
JI leader said that about 70 people fell prey to sectarian killing with a span of few days. Besides this, people also survived loss of their possessions and valuable in violent protests. “It is noting but failure of the LEAs and lack of political will of the government,” he viewed.
He appealed religious clerics and sectarian leaders to come forward and play their role for durable peace and sectarian harmony in the country and particularly in Karachi. He demanded of the government to curb those elements spreading hatred and playing the nefarious play of blood and fire on the behest of their foreign idols.
