Karachi: MQM Rabita Committee has strongly condemned the police torture and baton charge against the PTI workers here on Sunday on Lahore Mall Road. Presenting sympathy to the Punjab Assembly Opposition leader Mian Mehmood Al Rasheed the committee members termed police action as bewailing. Muttahida leaders appreciated the decision of Punjab Chief minister of taking action of the issue and setting free the held PTI workers.
PTI workers had staged protests, sit in to resorting to the rigging done in the by elections held last week on August 22. They observed sit in the capital city of Punjab. Over 70 PTI workers had taken part in the protest with many being arrested by the police.
The protestors blocked the traffic which created hurdle and traffic jam was witnessed in the area. The Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif after taking notice of the issue contacted the Punjab Chief minister and asked him to set free the arrested political members.
Nawaz said that it is the right of an individual to protest against what he feels unjust, democracy gives them the right. He ordered legal actions to be taken against the public officials for violating the human rights and the law. Being responsible citizens, peaceful protests should be held which do not affect the daily routines of the masses.
