Karachi: The Deputy Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Co- ordination Committee Farooq Sattar in a news conference said that MQM will not participate in the Minhaj ul Quran International (MQI) that is scheduled to take place on 14 of January on Sunday this week by the Ameer of Minhaj ul Quran Tahir ul Qadri, however the party would support the Tahir party in forwarding its ideology.
It is said that MQM leader, Altaf Hussein who had on Thursday night in his political drone attack had affirmed of the MQM’s participation has all of a sudden changed its plan, stating that threats and politically tensed and social instability may result in case of the participation by the big political leader. They said that owing to the deteriorated condition of bomb blast, target killing, it would not be safe for the MQM members to join the long march, staking the lives of millions of people.
Mr. Sattar also informed that they had told, informed and spoke of the reason for their non-joining with Tahir ul Qadri the MQI leader. While MQM responding to the likely criticism that could arise to the party’s agreed statement to involve in the long march, the MQM leader said that they have forwarded there this decision to PPP, the government and asked that what law stops the coalition party to join the other party?
Earlier on Thursday, a meeting had been convened by the PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Ashraf. The meeting was attended by the coalition parties, including MQN, ANP and PML-Q league leaders. The government had extended full support with MTQ. The Interior Minister, Rehman Malik however said that TMQ is likely to be targeted as serious life threats have and are being received.
But TMQ, without being cautious of his life has stated that the long march would take place no matter what happens. He had repeated it for 3 times at news briefing.
