Pakistan’s NBP & UBL, India’s SBI & BoI To Operate Across Border

Pakistan and Indian banks across borderIslamabad: So called Aman ki Asha manages to reap so called fruits of economic peace and stability among India and Pakistan as both the rivals have agreed to permit two banks each from both the countries to open branches across the border, Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Yaseen Anwar informed.

The two banks from Pakistan that are been allowed, once licensed, to set up their branches in India are state-owned National Bank of Pakistan and privately-owned United Bank Limited. On the other hand, State Bank of India (SBI) and Bank of India (BoI) will be allowed to operate in Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that last month Chairman MCB Bank Mian Mohammad Mansha also expressed keen interest in launching bank branches in India and announced that the bank had filed an application with the central bank in this regard, however, go-ahead instruction was not granted so far.
