Karachi: Despite of Rangers operation in the biggest city of Pakistan, mobile snatching incidents have been increased in the ongoing year 2015. While addressing media at Governor House Karachi, newly appointed CPLC Chief Zubair Habib told that around 32,000 cases of mobile snatching and theft have been reported this year so far, however 29,000 cases were reported in the previous year 2014. He said that targeted operation of Rangers has bring peace in Karachi and many types of crimes have been decreased, but mobile snatching and theft cases have been unfortunately increased.
“In the year 2014, around 29,000 cases of mobile phones theft or snatching were reported while the number increased to 32,000 during this year,” CPLC Chief Zubair Habib told.
While providing figures of other crimes in the city, Zubair Habib told the media that four wheeler snatching and theft has been decreased from 2757 to 1542, as compared to last year. It means that this type of crime is decreased to approximately 50%, which is a good sign. Talking about kidnap for ransom cases, Zubair Habib told that 110 were reported last year, but only 21 cases of kidnap for ransom has been reported this year so far.
Zubair Habib also told the media that “Neighborhood Care Centers” have been established by CPLC in around 6 areas of Karachi, which has reduced crime rates in that particular areas.
