Karachi: Fire in the oil depot at Manghopir caused million of rupees worth of oil to be burnt to fumes, while the nearby residents suffered chronically due to the smoke created from the burning oil. According to sources, there was a sudden eruption of fiery flames at the oil depot located on the plot 284 near Azam Chowk in Ittehad town of the Manghopir industrial area.
Fire brigade rushed to smother the flames, which had engulfed the entire depot within seconds. The fire brigade also called on the police and the rangers for support. The fire brigade employed 5 fire tenders and used fire foam to extinguish the fire after a laborious effort of 4 hours. It’s very shameful response from local administration which is not focusing on Fire brigade system. It’s not the first time when Industries in Karachi faced such a miserable scene. Industrial Area is away from city and it’s necessary to deploy enough Fire brigades and ambulances in these Business Hub areas.
