Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi leader and former Town Nazim Baldia was laid to rest after funereal prayers at the Qiaid’s mausoleum, here on Thursday. PML-N, PTI, JUI, JUP, ST, and other religious and nationalists parties, besides traders representatives announced to support the strike JI senior leader and former mayor Nematullah Khan led the funereal prayers. Prominent political religious and social figures including Pakistan People Party leader Najmi Alam, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz)’s Saleem Zia, Ameer NAwab of Awami National Party, senior labor leader Habeeb Juneedi and others also attended the funereal prayers. Speaking on the occasion, JI Sindh chief Asadullah Bhutto said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Altaf Hussain could never capture Karachi on gunpoint. He said that Mehmood was a courageous leader and heroic personality, who always speak truth about the terrorism of MQM. He said that the present government was responsible for bloodshed and trend of torture in the city, as it always support MQM. He added that the so called reconciliation policy of PPP government was core reason behind continuous spree of violence and killing in the city.
He demanded of the government to arrest the killers of Pervez Mahmood within three hours and to dismiss the governor Sindh immediately over his support to criminals. He was of the view that Mehmood was punished for bold stance and always speaking truth. HE further said that besides, achieving other nefarious purposes, the murder was an attempt to divert the attention of masses from the blasphemy issue.
Nematullah Khan said that Mahmood was an asset of JI. He added that MQM not only kills peaceful people but also its own leaders and activists as well. He said that MQM was responsible for killing around 300 people in Baldia Town. He further said that MQM wouldn’t be let spare to capture Karachi, until JI prevails.
JI Karachi Ameer Mehnati said that Pervez was a brave leader. He didn’t leave his house and city, despite of life threats by MQM. Later the procession was moved towards CM house, where a sit-in protest was held.
Meanwhile, JI Karachi announced to observe a shutter sown strike on Wednesday (today). Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, PML-N, Jamiat-Ulma-e-Islam, other religious and nationalists parties including Sindh United Party and city alliance also announced to support the strike.
