Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the US could not find someone more loyal than President Zardari therefore, the holding of elections on schedule was also doubtful. Addressing the Tahafuz e Pakistan Conference at Vehari on Sunday, he said that the ruling clique had practically dissociated itself from the national defense and was only concerned about its own interests. He said that the replacement of Musharraf by Zardari or of Zardari by Nawaz Sharif only meant change of faces.
This was because the wrong policies of these people were responsible for the problems like corruption, price spiral, unemployment, terrorism and load shedding, he added. Syed Munawar Hassan said that corruption could not be wiped out by slogans as it needed strength of character and a strong will. He said the masses would have to change their attitude and reject the parties and politicians who had been in power time and again but had plundered the nation’s wealth with both hands. It was the JI alone that could provide a clean and efficient government to the country, he added.
The JI chief said that Gen. Kayani should have learnt from the war on terror. He said it was unfortunate that despite all out opposition by the nation, the armed forces had suffered huge losses in this war. He said that declaring India as the most favoured Nation was tantamount to demolishing the country’s ideological foundations.
He said that on the occasion of the SAARC summit, Indian premier Manmohan Singh had accused Pakistan of terrorism while Prime Minister Gilani kept mum. He said that India was self sufficient in terrorism and was exporting terrorism and about a dozen separatist movements were going on in that country.
Speaking on the occasion, the JI Punjab chief, Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar, deplored that the vast majority of people depending n agriculture were not getting fair return for their hard labour. He said that most of government institutions in the Punjab were suffering from corruption.
