Ramadan is the holy month in which Muslims around the globe fast from dawn till the sunset, what makes Istanbul different is the public iftar.
In Istanbul the Fetih Mosque Park which is situated between Hagia Sofia & Blue Mosque becomes crowded with people in the month of Ramadan who gather there to break their fast.
Families, group of friends, students and teenagers gather at the park with their iftar. Some prepare iftar in the park, some carry it from home while other purchases it from restaurants and shops nearby.
Each year the park becomes a grand iftar table with thousands of people gathering as the sun set nears which is the time when Muslim breaks their iftar.
Istanbul was the seat of the Ottoman caliphate and was considered the centre of the Muslim world for centuries. The Historic Blue Mosque & Topkapi Palace and the old streets show how glorious past. Currently Istanbul is the biggest city of Turkey.
