Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the MNA Imran Khan has been termed as the highly paid parliamentarian in the Pakistan politics history. On a one day visit to the parliament the parliamentarian has received total amount of Rs. 2 lac and 22 thousand.
According to the sources, PTI chairman Imran Khan who took the oath as 12 National Assembly parliamentarians after three months has attended the assembly only once. It is pertinent here to mention that IK had taken the oath two weeks later after the official oath taking ceremony due to his illness.
During the period National Assembly held 3 sessions and the assembly proceeded for 29 days, including the budget session. National Assembly sources have told that the parliamentarian is taking monthly salary of Rs 74,000 which makes a total of Rs 2, 22, 000 in three months time period.
The MNA is not being given the session allowance by the National Assembly on the account of the leave taken by him due to his ill health, however on monthly basis his salary is transferred to his bank account.
It is worth while here to mention that after taking oath as MNA, in the past three months, Imran Khan had not only attended the local and international political and personal activities but has had been active in addressing the press conferences and gatherings in Islamabad but he did not show up to represent his followers of Sector NA-56 in the house of the National Assembly.
Criticizing over the performance of Imran Khan it has been further stated that he came to the polling station set up in the national assembly hall to vote respective nominated candidate of his party for presidency but a day before he did not attend the meeting held at National Assembly.

Let’s not put stock into an old wives’ tale. When the Mush/PML Q regime passed the law to grant Toyota Corollas and pay raises to parliamentarians, Imran Khan and Qazi Hussain Ahmed (late) were the only two people who refused to accept cars/raises and continue drawing old salaries. This news write up is anything but true since all parliamentarians, who do not hold any special powers, are treated equally and get equal salary. There is no concept of “competitive” salary in the parliament as such. Very idiotic lie.
