Govt Launches Signal-Free Mobile Command Unit for Muharram Surveillance in Islamabad

For the first time in Islamabad, a mobile control room has been established as part of security arrangements for Muharram.
The facility, developed on the special instructions of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, has the capability to function without mobile signals and is equipped to coordinate surveillance using drones and modern technology.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, along with Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, visited the central Imambargah Asna Ashari in G-6 sector to review the security plan.
Both officials inspected the main hall of the Imambargah and assessed the implementation of security arrangements, including a detailed review of Islamabad Police’s newly introduced mobile control room
Speaking to the media, Talal Chaudhry said that 1,762 personnel have been deployed for security duties, including 350 traffic officers stationed at four main entry points. He added that foolproof arrangements have been made for the safety of mourners during Muharram processions and gatherings. He also stated that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has been activated to monitor and respond to any hate speech or inflammatory content shared on social media platforms.
Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Ali Nasir Rizvi, provided a comprehensive briefing on the overall security strategy. According to the plan, mourners will travel from Rawalpindi to Islamabad on 9th Muharram and return on 10th Muharram. The security setup includes sector-wise planning, coordination among various departments, and active monitoring through CCTV cameras along procession routes.
The briefing further revealed that a robust integrated security system is in place for Majalis and processions, with volunteers working alongside security personnel. Senior officials including Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner, DIGs, Chief Traffic Officer, and SPs were also present during the visit.
