Karachi: The 45th Death anniversary of Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah is being observed across the country with huge respect, zeal and reverence. In an effort to mark the day in an esteemed manner various social, political and women organizations held academic events all over the country.
The events regarding the life history of the sister of Quaid-e-Azam across the country paid gratitude to the undying services of her to the nation.
Fatima Jinnah was born on July 31, 1893 in Karachi to a well known respected family. She remained the only companion of her brother Mohammad Ali Jinnah after his return to the country. She also played a significant role in the political arena of Pakistan and worked tirelessly for the settlement of Muhajirs in the newly created state of Pakistan.
She contested in the General elections of 1965 at the age of 71 against the Martial Law administrator General Ayub Khan. Fatima Jinnah died in Karachi on July 9, 1967 due to heart failure while some assert that she was murdered at her house.
