Islamabad: Parliamentary Committee formed for the appointment of new Chief Election Commissioner has developed an absolute consensus over the name of Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim to hold the CEC office, local TV channel reported.
Meanwhile, Khursheed Shah, the Chairman of the Committee has confirmed about the consent on the name of Fakhruddin as Chief Election Commissioner that was recommended by the opposition.
While talking to the media Khursheed Shah said that the consensus of government and the opposition over the appointment of neutral election commissioner makes Charter of Democracy completed by 90 percent.
Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim is well known as the former Attorney General of Pakistan during the democratic government of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and served as his close legal adviser throughout the 1970s.
