Hand Sanitizer is a gel or liquid which is used to kill bacteria, virus and other germs. But do you know it is very easy to make such hand sanitizers at home with some simple ingredients & easy method?
At a time when the world is facing a shortage of hand sanitizer due to spread of coronavirus you can make your hand sanitizers in your kitchen by following different methods.
There are many ways to make it but World Health Organization (WHO) recommends ethanol-based formation which is effective, affordable and easy to make.
If you want to prepare 10 liter of Hand Sanitizer then follow these simple steps:
1) Take a flask
2) Pour 8,333 ml ethanol in that flask (83%)
3) Add 417 ml Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) (4.3%)
4) Add 145 ml glycerol (1.5%)
5) Now add 1000 ml distilled or boiled (and cooled) water (10%)
6) Close the cap and mix the liquids
7) Divide into 100 or 500 ml bottles
8) Leave for 72 hours so that all bacterial spores are killed
9) Your hand sanitizer is ready for use
If you want to make less than 10 liter then rather than following the amount in liquids use the percentage provided above, because without the required amount of ethanol or Hydrogen Peroxide the hand sanitizer will not be effective.
People are also using some easier methods which just require ethanol and aloe vera gel to make hand sanitizer. Just take 2/3 ethanol (99%) and mix it with 1/3 of aloe vera gel.
Now add a few drops of essential oil for better fragrance and skin. Funnel the mixture in bottles and leave for up to 72 hours so that the bacterial containments are killed.
Despite the wide use of hand sanitizers experts believe that washing hands with soap for at least 20 seconds is the best way to reduce the chances of bacterial and viral diseases including coronavirus.
One of the reasons for this is that most soaps and cleaning products are detergents which not only remove bacteria, virus or germs but also helps to kill them.
