Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) awarded twice death sentence to Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri in Salman Taseer murder case here on Saturday.
Special Anti-Terrorist Court No-02 Judge Pervez Ali Shah of announced the reserved verdict in Adiyala jail Rawalpindi.
The awarded two time death sentence on two sections of the constitution on section 302 and 2nd section seven, which is about the anti-terrorism; meanwhile Qadri has been imposed fine one lakh each on two sections.
The court in its verdict said that no one could be given the license to kill someone on any condition. Therefore; the killer cannot be pardoned as he has committed a heinous crime by murdering the former governor.
The court said Mumtaz Qadri has the right to appeal against the verdict in the high court within seven days; meanwhile the court also imposed fine of two lack and said that Qadri has to bear one year imprisonment in failure of payment of fine money.
On the other hand Qadri was shifted to death cell after the verdict of case; meanwhile the lawyers of Qadri said that they would file a plea against the verdict on Monday or Tuesday in the Lahore High Court.
The court reserved the verdict in the previous hearing of the case; meanwhile the court announced the verdict on 28th hearing.
On the hand, a number of workers of a religious party gathered outside the prison, holding banners and placards pasting the pictures of Mumtaz Qadri raised slogans against the verdict.
Qadri had earlier confessed in court that he had killed Punjab governor Salman Taseer for his ‘blasphemous’ statements.
It is worth mentioning here that Mr Taseer was assassinated by his security guard and cop of Punjab Elite Force, Mumtaz Qadri, on January 4, 2011 at Kohsar Market in Islamabad, meanwhile the Salman Taseer murder case was registered on the plea of his son Shehryar Taseer Kohsar Market Police Station.
Meanwhile commenting on the decision Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said that every body should accept the court verdict, adding that Qadri still has two for appeal against the verdict of the ATC.
He said that the death sentence to Qadri is court matter and it should be accepted by every one; meanwhile Rana Sanaullah commenting on the rape case with a girl student in Shahkot said that three accused have been arrested and main accuse is on bail before arrest and prosecution would contact with the court to end the interim bail.
He said that the perpetrators of the incident would be brought in the court of justice. (SANA)
