Islamabad: The Finance Minister Hafeez Shaikh says that the government is responsible for the energy crisis in the country.The Minister informed media that the government has poured a heavy amount of rupees 1.4 trillium for the recovery and betterment of the respective sector.
Nevertheless,the government claims that the sector needs rupees 150 billion to ensure the capacity of 1300MW and it will overcome for come the shortage of gas and decline in hydro power.
A senior finance ministry official in a background briefing said this would be one of the key factors in expanding the country’s fiscal deficit, which had provisionally been estimated at about 1.3 per cent of GDP in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, almost at the same level in the last financial year that finally concluded at 8.53 per cent.
