ISLAMABAD: The Chief military spokesperson Major General Asim Bajwa has said that 447 terrorists have been killed so far in operation Zarb-i-Azb, going in North Waziristan while he vowed that the Pakistan army will completely eliminate terrorists’ hideouts in North Waziristan. Mr Bajwa said this during a press briefing.
In addition to the killing of 447 terrorists, the Pakistan army has destroyed 88 hideouts of the terrorists whereas 26 soldiers have been martyred in the operation. He added that a ground operation has been started in Mir Ali in which 6 terrorists have been killed recently whereas the militant commander named as Matiullah is among them. Asim Bajwa has further said that 11 terrorists have surrendered during the ground operation and 80 per cent of Miramshah has been cleared.
On the other hand, the residents of Loi Mamund, Tehsil of Bajaur Agency, have started to vacate the area in view of the operation Zarb-i-Azb against local and foreign terrorists, being associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan whereas the process of IDPs’ registration will be started today.
It is pertinent to mention here that the terrorists earlier attacked on security forces in Ghakhi, the area of Loi Mamund, Tehsil of Bajaur Agency. The Pakistan forces afterwards decided to take action against the terrorists and directed the residents of the area to vacate the area till 6 PM in the evening yesterday.
According to sources, 650 families have migrated to their relatives and other areas in headquarter Khar and the areas of Tehsil Waar Mamund. The political agent, Bajaur, Mr Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah has said that registration points for the migrants will be set up at Sidiqabad and Umri, the exit check posts of Tehsil Loi Mamund.
