KARACHI: Heatstroke in Karachi has claimed 250 more lives and on the whole, 400 people lost their lives within three days of high temperature in Karachi. The whole Sindh including Karachi is engulfed with heat and heatstroke claimed more 250 lives on Monday due to which the death toll has reached up to 400. Doctor Semi Jamali, the head of Emergency Department of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, told that the death toll in Jinnah had exceeded 200.
Semi Jamali said that over 3000 people, affected with the heatstroke, had been given medical aid. She appealed rescue officials to convey ambulances to hospital so that dead bodies and patients could be delivered. MS of Civil hospital confirmed deaths of 64 whereas senior doctor Salma Qureshi told that over 70 people lost their lives in Abbasi Shaheed and Metropolitan hospital.
Spokesperson of Indus hospital Saqib Zeshan confirmed deaths of 20 people whereas spokesperson of Liaquat National hospital Anjum Rizvi said that 22 people lost their lives there. Doctor Khalid Masood, MS Qatar hospital, told that 24 patients affected with heatstroke lost their lives so far whereas 2 people died in KPT hospital.
Provincial minister Jaam Mehtab told that 15 people died in Lyari General Hospital. Doctors said that all the deaths took place due to heatstroke and Gastro disease. It is pertinent to mention here that earlier, 30 people lost their lives on Saturday and Sunday in Abbasi Shaheed hospital including 12 women and 2 children.
