Junoon the Sufi rock Pakistan band is completing its 20 years in September this year. Salman Ahmed the founder and lead guitarist of the band have said on the twenty years completing that it’s time to put the ‘Junooni’ spirit back into lives.
The musician has planned to perform with the band’s former bassist Brian O Connell on Junoon’s20th Anniversary on 24th September in New York.
Both the guitarist will be performing in the concert at the Asia Society.
Junoon’s former lead vocalist Ali Azmat who left the band in 2005 to start his solo career will not be present as he and Salman Ahmad have not been very ‘friendly’ ever since they started their solo careers.
Salman Ahmad who started his music career with Vital Signs is also planning to launch an album to mark two decades of Junoon. The album will be featuring Strings, Bilal Khan, Outlandish, Usman Riaz and Laal’s Taimur Rahman. All these singers are recording their favourite Junoon songs.
The musician and former actor Salman has also invited his Twitter followers to suggest songs for the album.
Junoon won the “Best International Group” award at the Channel V Awards in 1998. They were nominated alongside the likes of Backstreet Boys, Aqua, Boyzone, Prodigy and Sting.
