MAKKAH: Saudi Arabia has explained that about 1100 images that were sent to foreign embassies for identification were not just of Mina incident but the images were of those died during Hajj this year on the whole. It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistani and Indian officials said one day ago that Saudi officials had sent about 1090 images of the people died in Mina incident.
The confusion concerning the death toll created when Indian foreign minister Sushma Sawaraj told media that Saudi officials had released 1090 images of dead bodies whereas focal person of PM’s media cell, Tariq Fazal Chauhadry also revealed yesterday that 1100 pilgrims died in Mina incident.
According to a foreign news agency, the senior spokesperson of Saudi interior ministry major General Mansour Al-Turki explained that the images sent to the foreign embassies included those unidentified people who did not only die during stampede but they were the labors who belonged to South Asian countries and were residing in Saudi Arabia and they performed Hajj without legal permission.
He further said that the images also included 111 those unidentified people who died during the crane incident in Makkah that took place in Masjid Al-Haram on September 11, 2015 as the construction work was going on in order to extend the Masjid.
