We all share our special moments with our friends on social media but Rachel Burns lost her job, which she loved from last 21 years, because she posted about some special moments of her professional life on her Facebook account.
Rachel worked as a manager at a residential care for elderly and vulnerable people where she organized music night each week. But posting an image and video from that event became the reason for her dismissal.
The head office believed that posting the picture, identifying a resident in that picture, posting a video and being friend with relatives of resident were all breaches. This resulted in her dismissal within two days.
Rachel though that ending her 21 years on a Facebook post was not justice and she challenged it in a tribunal and after 20 months of hearing she won the case partially. Judges believe that the 2 day time to decide between redeployment on a lower post and salary & dismissal was not enough. Now she will receive a compensation for her dismissal.
