Uber’s latest deal with Volvo will soon result in self driven cars which will not require any driver for roaming in the streets of New York and Tokyo.
The deal is estimated to be of $1.4 billion which includes sales of 24,000 XC90 Sports utility vehicles (SUVs) which will be provided in three years starting from 2019.
The dream of driver less cars will take some few years because currently no country allows such cars to be driven on roads. Paul Newton, an automotive consultant believes that Japan will be the first country to allow level four automation.
In level four automation car will be self driven but a driver will be present to take control of the steering. The next level five will be of complete artificial technology in which no driver will be required, this requires new legislation and infrastructure.
