Jeddah: Several Hajj and Umrah services in Saudi Arabia have stop to give visa to more than 60 years of age and children who wishes to travel Saudi Arabia. This step has taken due to the medical science deadly disease “MERS”. It is said that old aged and children are more likely to affect by this disease as this disease occurs in this age group.
Head of Hajj or Umrah committee Saad-ul-Qureshi at the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) told the Saudi newspaper that the recovery of requests of these people has been turn off who had not been vaccinated for other types of “flu”. The Saudi newspaper also claimed that regular government agencies have been directed in this regard but has not issued any written notice.
It is also to remember that last week Saudi Health Minister Adel Fakeih advised to cautions about the senior citizens and children. As a result, Saudi Arabia is expected to receive limited numbers of foreign pilgrims during the holy month of Ramadan in July, followed by millions more for annual Hajj in October. As pilgrims has to go through this restriction on the old aged and children in this regard.
Saudi Arabia has told that the total number of cases of MERS virus had nearly doubled in the kingdom in April with 26 more infections. MERS is a Middle East Respiratory Syndrome is a severe pneumonia-like respiratory disease caused by a virus. It is different from SARS because MERS is caused by another subtype of the virus.
