US State Department Confirms Meetings Of Haqqani With US Officials

The US State Department confirmed the meetings of Hussain Haqqani with high US officials before his departure to Pakistan, while the spokesperson refused to tell the media regarding the details of meetings and the question of his dual citizenship.

The Spokesperson of US State Department Mark Toner while talking to media at Washington said that Hussain Haqqani met high officials of US before his departure to Pakistan but the details cannot be disclosed.

He said that the relations between Pakistan and United States cannot be affected with the appointment of Sherry Rehman as new Ambassador of Pakistan, adding that the government of Pakistan formally informed US on Wednesday regarding the appointment of Sherry Rehman as new Ambassador.

He said that relations are between states not between personalities, so it would not be difficult to make consensus with new ambassador to work.
