SANA’A: Two blasts have taken place in a mosque of Yemen’s capital city, Sana’a during Eid prayer. According to a foreign news agency, both the blasts were reported to suicides which were carried out in Al-Baleli mosque in the district of Al-Safya.
Al-Baleli mosque is situated near police academy whereas the area is under control of the Houthi rebels. According to Al-Arabia news report, at least 15 people have been killed in these blasts yet. A huge amount of people were present at Eid prayer.
Soon after the blasts took place, it stampeded. Medical aid activities started immediately whereas the injured ones were shifted to different hospitals. No groups have claimed for the responsibility of the blasts yet.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Houthi rebels who are supported by Iran announced in 2014 that they had occupied the capital city of Yemen, Sana’a. Saudi Arabia with its allied gulf countries started aerial strikes from March 26 against the Houthis in order to secure Sana’a.
United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan led by Saudi Arabia started military actions against the Houthis who started rebellion against the government of Yemen and occupied various cities.
