Millions of people in Thailand are living in poverty without basic needs but the government is preparing for a lavish funeral for the late king which will cost $90 million (Rs. 9 billion).
The King body is being kept in a coffin from 13th October 2016 when he died after a long illness, after which a year long mourning period was announced and now finally the royal cremation ceremony will be held.
A royal golden pyre is almost ready for the deceased king funeral ceremony which was prepared at a cost of $30 million. The funeral ceremony will include stories from Ramayana, puppet shows, masked drama and ceremonial music.
It is expected that 250,000 people will attend the ceremony while millions will watch the ceremony through TV and internet. Currently the rehearsal of the ceremony is being conducted.
