Many people believe that in today’s era it is difficult to abstain from Riba and interest from banking and financial sector so they start assuming that it is allowed because it has become wide spread and common.
A man who also thought the same asked the question to Sheikh Saalih who rejection this opinion and warned that riba (soodh) is among major sins about which Allah said:
“take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger “(2:278)
So how can involve ourselves in a matter about which Allah issued a notice of war? Prophet (PBUH) also explained that any form of riba is haram.
“cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it, and he said: they are all the same.” Sahih Muslim (1598)
And becoming wide spread and common doesn’t makes something halal rather we should remember that Prophet (Pbuh) warned us in the end times holding on Islam will be like holding coals.
So opening a banking account without taking an interest to receive your salary, etc is allowed because this contract has nothing which violates the Sharia, but saving accounts and other interest based accounts are prohibited in Islam.
