Islamabad : Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan terming PML-N Senator Sumaira Malik ineligible has also unapproved notification that recognized her status as a successful parliamentarian. Moreover, she has also been directed to pay for the expenses of the applicant by SC, media sources reported.
Three member bench session was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice. Sumaira Malik’s opponent candidate, Omar Aslam Awan had filed the petition alleging the PML-N member to be a fake degree holder. On 9th of October, the decision was taken but remained unannounced until Monday.
Chief justice while announcing his decision after the hearing session termed Sumaira ineligible and also confiscated the notification that bore her as a successful candidate.
The court in relevance has further stated that confiscating the elections 2008 results, there would be changes in the last held elections. Hence, copy of the SC order should be sent to the Election Commission (ECP) and the other institutions.
It is pertinent here to mention that Sumaira Malik has had been alleged of holding fake B.A degree.
She did not appear for her graduation exams, rather some one else on her part had taken the exams. Sumaira Malik got successful over the provision of ticket from her associated party. After the court, declared its decision, one of the lady’s supporter fainted on the occasion, with in the premises of the court.
