MARDAN: Suicide attack near the office of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has killed 18 people in Mardan, the city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Over 47 people were also injured in the attack.
DIG Mardan Saeed Wazir has said that according to initial reports, the blast that took place near NADRA office was a suicide attack and a motorbike rider exploded himself at the gate of NADRA. The injured ones were shifted to hospital where many of the injured were reported to be in critical condition. Emergency has been imposed in all the hospitals of Mardan.
According to sources, a large number of people gathered at NADRA for developing their National Identity Cards at the time of explosion. Police and rescue teams rushed to the site after explosion and cordoned off the area in order to collect evidences.
The explosion was so intense that the building of NADRA damaged whereas glasses of the nearby buildings were broken. After the explosion, panic situation has risen in the area. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned the suicide attack in Mardan and expressed his sorrows with the bereaved families.
On the other hand, interior minister Chauhadry Nisar Ali Khan has condemned the suicide attack as well and has sought a report concerning the incidents by the authorities concerned.
