KARACHI: Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has clearly said that there will be no compromise on Karachi operation and Rangers’ powers will be maintained. A meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah continued for one and a half hour concerning Rangers’ powers.
CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah shared his concerns with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif concerning Rangers’ powers in Karachi as well as informing him about the interference of Federal government in the affairs of Sindh government.
According to sources, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ensured CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah that no steps beyond the constitution of Pakistan would be taken in Sindh but there would be no compromise on Karachi operation.
CM Sindh said that Karachi operation should be continued, adding that we have no objection but interference in provincial affairs must be stopped. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Rangers have performed a key role to pacify Karachi hence, the notification of Federal government about Rangers’ powers would be sustained.
However, Prime Minister ensured that the concerns of provincial government would be solved through talks. Nawaz Sharif directed Interior Minister Chauhadry Nisar to go to Karachi next week and solve all the issues.
