Federal Cabinet approved the appointed of Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti as the new IG for Sindh Police replacing AD Khawaja. No official profile is available for IG Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti so we will briefly provide his biography.
Sardar Abdul Majeed is a 22 grade officer of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) and is counted among the most experienced officers in Sindh. Because of his experience he was the strongest suggestion for provincial police chief. Many believe that PPP wanted their man as provincial head that’s why he was upgraded to 22 grade.
He has served in different places and positions not only in Sindh but also in other provinces. Previously he also served as the Capital City Police Officer in Quetta, Balochistan. That’s why when Sindh government suggested three names for the post of Sindh Police they
Sindh government on two occasions tried to replace AD Khawaja with Sardar Abdul Majeed but failed to do so. In December 2016 Sindh government tried for the first time to remove AD Khawaja by sending him on forced leave then in again in April 2017 Sardar Abdul Majeed was appointed as the IG Sindh.
