Recently an ugly clash was seen between Australian spin maestro Shane Warne and West Indian Marlon Samuels. Both were playing in Australian Domestic T20 Big Bash League match at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Shane Warne was playing for Melbourne Stars and Samuel for Melbourne Renegades.
In Melbourne Stars batting inning when David Hussey was batting, Marlon Samuel was bowling when Hussey tried to run for a second run but Samuels grabbed David Hussey by the shirt and prevented him taking off for a second run. This was a strange act but not became the issue. However when Samuels came onto bat for Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars captain Shane Warne was in a mood to take revenge of Samuels act. He confronted Samuels by physically and verbally. Warne grabbed his Samuels’ shirt and also pointed at him threateningly. In the next over Warne while collecting the ball in fielding under-armed it into the body of Samuels. West Indian player also responded by throwing his bat vaguely in the direction of Warne.
Cricket Australia (cricket authority in Australia) have suspended Shane Warne for one match and also fined him $4500. Cricket Australia will also take action against Marlon Samuels.
The action taken against Shane Warne, one of the legend of cricket and easily one of the best spinner in all time cricket, shows that players whether he is legend or an ordinary player are dealt with same zeal. Discipline has to be followed by everyone. If this type of action would have been taken in Pakistan in last decade then match fixing, spot fixing cases could not have malign Pakistan cricket.
