Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) launches QR Code for permits of constructions projects for Karachi and other cities of the province, on the directions of provincial government.
This new initiative is part of computerization of different government departments and the decision was made after Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD).
Under SBCA new QR Code initiative, the following details will be provided to citizens:
1) Name of the project
2) Plot Number
3) Company/Builder Name
4) Licensed Architect
5) Licensed Structure Engineer
7) Resident/SITE Engineer
8) No. of Floors
9) No. of Units
10) Total Covered Area
11) Date of Completion
12) Building Plan Approval No.
13) Sales & advertisement NOC
14) ABAD Membership
15) Verification by Code
In the first stage ABAD will install an information board in all approved & under construction public sale projects while in the second stage such boards will be installed in all construction sites, including personal.
On one hand these boards will be helpful for the government to know the legal status of any construction project and building, which will be helpful in identifying illegal projects and pave the way for quick action against unauthorized constructions.
On other hand it will help citizens to have information about projects and a comfortable way to check the authenticity and legality of any construction project.
How to Check the Legal Status of Construction Projects:
People can download SBCA Complaints app from Google Play Store for their android phone, through this mobile application they can scan the QR code of any project and building and can check the details and know whether it is approved by SBCA or not.
This step was taken after multiple cases of illegal and unauthorized construction projects were initiated, especially in Karachi. In many cases the buildings were demolished after complete construction resulting in loses for those who booked flats in such projects. Now with QR Code citizens can easily verify the projects before making the booking.
