The list of mandatory and optional holidays for the upcoming year, 2023, was made public by the federal government on Monday. Following this, schools, colleges, universities and offices will observe these holidays accordingly.
The Cabinet Division also released an official announcement. According to the announcement, Pakistan’s Muslims and other minorities will observe the following public and optional holidays in 2023. Below is the list of all the holidays with occasions,dates and days.
• Kashmir Day, Sunday February 5th.
• Pakistan Day, Thursday March 23rd.
• Eid-ul-Fitr, Saturday, Sunday, Monday April 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.
• Labour Day, Monday May 1st.
• Eid-ul-Azha, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, June 29th ,30th , July 1st.
• Ashura (9th, 10th Muharram), Thursday, Friday, July 27th and 28th.
• Independence Day, Monday August 14th.
• Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Thursday September 28th.
• Allama Iqbal Day, Thursday November 9th.
• Quaid-e-Azam Day/Christmas, Monday December 25th.
• Day after Christmas, Tuesday December 26th (Only for Christians).
Following that, there will be bank holidays. Banks, DFLs, and MFBs will be closed on certain days to the general public but open to staff.

The dates of holidays for Muslim festivities are determined by predicted dates. The Cabinet Division will send out a separate notification if the moon makes an appearance; otherwise, they are subject to it.
