Karachi: Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri has announced that PPP would stage a huge Jalsa (public gathering) at Kammu Shaheed area in district Ghotki on Saturday (12th May) that would be a clear warning for undemocratic mindset in the country.
“It will be an enormous public gathering to be attended by millions of people, and proved to be a powerful reply to those who try to create hurdles in the way of democracy and democratic process”, she stated while speaking at a press conference here on Thursday.
She said that the people of the Sindh will meet here to defend their rights and protect democracy and added that party’s late leader Benazir Bhutto had also led a sit-in against construction of Kalabagh Dam at the same venue.
She said that the event’s day, May 12th has relatively a huge importance as many political workers laid their lives this day way back in 2008 for the revival of democratic process and had rendered sacrifices for sake of democracy.
Criticizing the amalgamation of SNF into PML-N, she said the party chief Mumtaz Bhutto should have taken into confidence his party workers before shaking hands with Nawaz Sharif.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Bar Council on Thursday appealed to the lawyers to observe May 12 as black day.
