Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan passed a decree on Thursday, directing the authorities to keep the current prices of CNG unchanged until the next hearing (19th November) of the CNG and petroleum products prices case, local news channel reported.
During the hearing, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry stated that the court had not carried out an observation of the prices of CNG and it had left the subject to the Oil & Gas Regulation Authority (OGRA).
Ogra presented a formula for CNG pricing during the hearing. Ogra presented a recommendation before the court to end the operating costs so that it could collect Rs 5.75 towards production costs.
The Authority also proposed lowering the CNG station owners’ profits per kilogram from Rs 11.20 to Rs 2.95.
Meanwhile, Chief justice expressed displeasure over the statement of Adviser to the Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain as he had said that a mafia was hindering the resolution of the petrol price case.
CNG price will remain same till 19th November i.e. Rs 61.64 per kg in Region I (Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Potohar region); and Rs54.16 in Region II (Sindh and Punjab, excluding Potohar).
