Lahore: After a perfect display of two exhibition Twenty20 matches between Rest of Pakistan Eleven and International World Eleven, Pakistan Cricket Board eyes to revive back cricket in the country on permanent basis with the inaugural edition of ‘proposed’ Pakistan T20 League.
It is learnt that as many as five teams (Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot and a combined team from Islamabad and Rawalpindi) will be participating in an expected enthralling event with 23 matches on the cards stretching to 15 days of infinite fun of cricket. The first edition of Pakistan Premier League has been planned to stage in March 2013.
The number of matches are said to be 23 in 13 playing days whereas the league would last for 15 days. Several star players from across the world would take part in the event. The icon players will be,
- Shahid Afridi,
- Kamran Akmal,
- Saeed Ajmal
- Umar Gul
- Mohammad Hafeez
However, Shoaib Malik is not believed to be as an icon player but he will continue to captain Sialkot Stallions. Other captains would be,
- Shahid Afridi (Karachi)
- Mohammad Hafeez (Faisalabad)
- Shoaib Malik (Sialkot)
- Umar Gul (Rawalpindi/Islamabad)
- Kamran Akmal (Lahore)
Contract Money
The National and International players will be divided into three categories. The Category A players will receive from $60,000 to $75,000; Category B from $35,000 to $50,000; Category C $25,000 to $30,000. However, star players like Chris Gayle may be offered up to $100,000 if he wills to play. Each team would include six International players, two from each category while they were allowed to play four Foreign players.
