Artificial intelligence (AI) powered systems are taking over the world. Although Pakistan lags in using cutting-edge technologies, a welcome step was taken by the KPK government recently.
The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has implemented an AI-powered “command and control system” to improve security in the red zone of the provincial capital.
The Artificial Intelligence System’s Capabilities
The advanced system includes 365 surveillance cameras that utilize facial and vehicle recognition technology. Its primary purpose is to identify and monitor every person entering the red zone, which receives around 50,000 visitors daily.
The System’s Purpose and Scope
The command-and-control system powered by AI serves two main purposes. Firstly, it focuses on safeguarding critical installations in the red zone. Secondly, it aims to create a streamlined and automated entry system for registered employees.
The AI system is designed to ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed entry while simultaneously screening all individuals who pass through the security checkpoint.
The command-and-control system will empower field commanders with improved operational capabilities to effectively respond to emergencies and crises. Through AI technology, the police force anticipates significantly enhancing their ability to monitor and maintain security within the red zone.
Incorporating facial and vehicle recognition capabilities and the extensive surveillance camera network will enable the smooth identification of individuals and vehicles, adding an extra level of security to the area.
The system’s real-time data analysis and processing capabilities will assist law enforcement agencies in proactively addressing potential threats and ensuring the safety of all visitors and employees within the red zone.
The adoption of an AI-driven system demonstrates the government’s dedication to employing innovative solutions for protecting public areas and critical installations.
The implementation of the AI-powered system represents a significant stride towards enhancing security measures and optimizing access control procedures within the red zone of the provincial capital.
