The chairman of the Pakistan Championship Cricket League (PCCL) Syed Asif Hasnain and former captain Rashid Lateef announced the third edition of the PCCL that will start from 13th August and will continue till 25th August. The event will be held at the various cricket grounds of Karachi. The announcement ceremony was attended by Former KCCA president Prof Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi, MPA Khalid Ahmed, Rehan Khan and other officials as well.
The matches will be held at Korangi Stadium, RLCA Gulberg, UP Gymkhana, TMC and Landhi Gymkhana grounds. The event required an estimated budget of Rs 20 million and all the out stationed teams will be given free boarding, lodgings, transport, kits and gears.
Rashid Latif informed the media that they had intended to invite foreign cricket teams as well, but the Pakistan Cricket Board had not granted them permission. He was expecting the PCB to give them a green signal for inviting the foreign teams in a day or two so they would be able to extend a formal invitation to these teams. He said that the participation of the foreign teams in the tournament will redeem Pakistan’s image in the international cricket scene and will revive the confidence of the international teams.
The winners will get Rs 2 million and the runners up will get Rs 1 million, while other cash prizes were also included. Teams from Abbotabad, Fata, Burewala, Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan and Quetta will be taking part in the competition
