Karachi: Team Australia were left undone by a brilliant batting display by Pakistan inexperienced batting unit this time as opener Nasir Jamshed leads the team to an inevitable victory in the second match played yesterday at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi after a nail biting defeat against the guests in first game of a three match ODI Series.
Australia batting first after winning the toss could not manage to get a good shining start as Pakistan spin was too crucial to tackle. Muhammad Hafeez, Abdur Rehman and spin maestro Saeed Ajmal maintained their complicated lines and lenghts.
However, skipper Michael Clarke and David Warner, who looked uneasy right from the beginning, provided their team a slow yet helping 66 runs partnership until they depart. Mike Hussey scored 61 runs of 72 and cameos by Bailey and Maxwell scoring 39 and 28, respectively helped Australia reaching a respectable total of 248. Saeed Ajmal took 4 for 32.
Pakistan in reply, looked in good touch right from the word ‘go’. It seemed that the order of the day was to go out and play positive. Highly criticized Muhammad Hafeez gave a fair glance of touch as he scored 23 of 27.
However, the player to watch yesterday was young Nasir Jamshed who eventually led the team to much important victory, scoring an instrumental 97 of just 98 deliveries.
Both the teams will now face in the final ODI to be played in Sharjah on Monday to clinch the series.
