ISLAMABAD: Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa has termed National Action Plan to be effective in preventing financing to terrorists. While giving interview to a Russian magazine, DG ISPR said that although some parts of the National Action Plan had been started, some of its parts would take time to implement due to political challenges.
Asim Saleem Bajwa said that the biggest achievement of the plan was to take action FATA. He added that the action was being taken on the basis of confidential information and due to which financial assistance to the terrorists had been stopped.
It is pertinent to mention here that the government this year had started National Action Plan along with long term measures in order to remove terrorism from Pakistan. The aims of the plan included prevention of financial assistance to terrorists, criminal justice reforms and strengthening law enforcement agencies.
DG ISPR said that Pakistan was especially focusing on youth in anti-extremism steps who were the basic target to be recruited by the terrorists. He added that we had started some pilot projects in order to rid fundamentalism which had been extended to the national level.
